Trauma Therapy Center

What is Trauma?

What is Trauma?

Trauma is an event that threatens the integrity of our body and/or mind.
Trauma can be a single event or ongoing.
By definition, trauma is an unbearable experience.
Therefore, when post-trauma occurs, both the body and mind suffer from symptoms and scars it leaves behind, as well as physiological, social, cognitive, and other changes.

Why can therapy with animals help trauma survivors?

Working with trauma in a space that involves animals is unique.
It contains the potential to create new emotional and physical experiences.
The presence of animals in the space allows us to create a safe environment, offering a new connection between the patient and the animal.

The safe feeling that an animal can provide, and the safe feeling a patient can give to the animal, is both a goal and a pathway, forming a foundation for processing traumatic parts.

In fact, the very presence of relationships between patients and animals is what opens the door to a new connection, a new feeling, and a reorganization of the emotional and attachment-based experience.

We see animals as subjects with personalities, names, stories, and narratives. We guide both the patients and the animals through a shared rehabilitative path.
Our greater aspiration is to create a new sense of security for both the patients and the animals, through a mutual connection that enables exploration of a new emotional range.
